FOR YOU, BY ONE OF YOU

Everyone has their own strengths, values, dreams and goals. Building upon those strengths as the foundation for your future progress is often the first step to empowerment.
Everyone has the potential to succeed. These words come from someone who took their own journey to overcome the stigma and difficulties that autism and disability bring. I wish to inspire and guide you through my experiences so you can achieve your potential (hopefully) much quicker than me!
Disability doesn't necessarily predict mental illness, but it does often lead there from stigma, self-esteem, lack of community and otherwise. Focusing on your mental health with a mentor who gets it may help provide you with the perspective to move forward.
Ultimately, things like mentoring, lifeskills training, and mental health support are only supports for you (or your loved ones) to make true change in your life. They are there for you to have guidance while understanding your values and aligning your life to them. This is what I aspire to help you with, and what Spectrumite offers: the tools, resources and people to help you succeed.

WHAT WE OFFER

The whole point of peer mentoring is that your mentor is also your peer - someone you can relate to, and give advice because they truly understand what you're facing.

OUR SERVICES

We provide peer mentoring and the following individual services:

Nonverbal and verbal social skills training

Social skills can be a bit of an alien sometimes, especially if you're on the spectrum or mental health issue. We provide training that targets social interaction.

Sensory Integration Issues Resolution & SPD Management

Your senses can often be overwhelming when you're on the spectrum or if you have Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). I will teach you strategies to manage and resolve issues when they rise.

Co-morbid Mental Health Management

Co-morbidity in mental health is, unfortunately, very common. Having autism, ADHD or neurodiverse conditions can lead to conditions like depression and anxiety due to stigma, self-esteem and otherwise. We provide advice on how to manage co-morbidity when it happens.

Relationship Skills and Sexual Health

Social skills are just the start of having a healthy relationship network. Involving yourself in a happy community consisting of friends, family, romantic connections and work-life balance is the goals skills-building will strive to achieve.

Parent Social Groups, Training, Respite

Yes, mums and dads, I know how much you need support too! As much as you may be your child's strongest advocate, getting reassurance, advice and a social network that understands how it is having a child with disability is also crucial for everyone involved.

Resilience Building

Build your resilience, strengths, goals and values. In the end, the world isn't always very nice, and it's a disservice to sugar-coat that. While we can't change the world, we can buckle up and strengthen ourselves - and that's exactly what I want to help you with.

Don't hesitate to reach out

Ultimately, Spectrumite is here to help you from the perspective of someone who truly understands what it's like to grow up with a disability. Don't hesitate and contact us!
